Chetham’s School of Music makes a welcome return to perform a programme including operatic arias, Romantic and Classical virtuosic violin repertoire, and high-octane head-bopping percussion pieces, closing with everyone’s favourite tango by Argentinian composer Astor Piazzola.

LEEDS LUNCHTIME CHAMBER MUSIC 24/25 Ignas Maknickas – piano Franz Schubert Piano Sonata No 13 Carl Vine Five Bagatelles Frédéric Chopin Polonaise-Fantaisie, Op 61 Approximately 50 minutes without interval Internationally acclaimed pianist Ignas Maknickas became a YCAT artist in 2023, and within a year won first prize at three international piano competitions. Here he performs Schubert’s whistful thirteenth piano sonata and Chopin’s fantastical opus 61 inspired by Poland’s national dance, via Carl Vine’s set of slightly sardonic, but ultimately contemplative miniature bagatelles.
This acoustic show will feature some fan-favourites from her back catalogue, stripped back and reimagined along with some new material.
