Supporting Families

We know that parents, guardians, friends and family members can be the biggest influence on the choices that a potential student makes for their future, providing a vital support network. It is understandable that you may feel anxious, particularly when a first time student moves away from home for study, and think it’s important that you are aware of what might be involved if they decide that studying at Leeds Conservatoire is for them.

Please note that we are unable to speak to third parties about specific cases without a student’s express permission due to data protection laws, and this includes speaking to parents, guardians, friends and family members. Leeds Junior Conservatoire

Leeds Junior Conservatoire (LJC) is a space for musicians aged 8-18 from Yorkshire and the North. Through sessions every Saturday in term time, LJC provides an inclusive and nurturing environment for young people to develop their creativity, connected by their passion for music.

The courses are led by skilled educators with a breadth of music industry experience. We don’t want cost to be a barrier and proudly offer numerous bursaries, including fully funded options.

We take a holistic approach to music education; our tuition isn’t limited to one style. Your child can play in a band, explore pop, try songwriting, give music production a go, develop their classical skills or hone music theory, supporting them to unlock their individuality and discover their sound. LJC is like a mini music industry under one roof, allowing young people to explore what makes them shine.

Young people meet other like-minded musicians to discover where their artistic potential could lead. LJC aims to build skills and confidence, kickstart musical journeys, and provide a social environment for young creatives. Most of all, LJC aims to be fun. If you know a young person passionate about music, this is the place for them.

Find out more about courses for under 18s on the LJC website pages
