Joseph Stones House

A nine-storey accommodation complex situated on campus.

Joseph Stones House is situated directly above the conservatoire's St Peter's Square building and offers private bathrooms to all rooms.

We allocate 152 study bedrooms in this building, all with en-suite facilities, clustered in flats with shared kitchen and living spaces. There are a small number of studios for students who’d prefer to live alone.

It is managed by Unite Students.

We are expecting some work to be carried out to the external facade of this property between 8AM and 6PM Monday to Friday. There will be some low noise disruption during working hours, and scaffolding on site. Unite Students will communicate notice of these works to all residents ahead of the work starting. This is in addition to the ongoing construction near Joseph Stones House which may impact some residents.

Accommodation application process

Applicants joining us in September 2025 who have firmly accepted their offer by 13 May 2025 will receive an email on this date with information on how to apply for accommodation. If you firmly accept your offer after 13 May, we’ll get in touch with you shortly after to provide the same information.

We can prioritise the following applicants who have an offer of study, providing you contact the Accommodation Team before 6 May 2025 to discuss your requirements:

  • applicants who are care experienced or estranged from their families
  • applicants with a diagnosed disability, long-term physical or mental health condition or allergy which needs to be considered for your accommodation

The accommodation team can be contacted by email at [email protected]

If you apply for accommodation in May, we will aim to let you know which room you’ve been allocated before end of June.

We usually have enough rooms for all undergraduate applicants who have firmly accepted their offer of study by June. We don't guarantee accommodation but we do our best to meet the demand each year.

If we don’t have a room available for you, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and either add your name to a waiting list or signpost you to other nearby options.

Information about moving in will be available from early Spring.

Academic calendars can be found here

Contact the accommodation team as soon as you can, and before the end of August –

Please note:
Should you choose not to come to Leeds Conservatoire and the reason is neither a serious personal issue nor failure to get your grades, then you may be tied in to paying your tenancy for the full year if your room cannot be reallocated.

Should serious personal reasons prevent you from taking up your place please contact us for advice.

Please read carefully the terms of the Unite Students or Unipol Cancellation Policy or which you can access alongside your contract.
