Attendance

To get the most out of LJC your student must commit to attending during term time. Their performance and musicianship lessons involve working collaboratively with other young musicians, and you all make more progress when everyone is present.

What should I do if my student can’t attend?

If your student is unable to attend, the parent/carer should contact Junior@lcm.ac.uk no later that 8:45 on the Saturday the student will be away and explain the reason for the absence.

Reasons for authorised absences would include

  • Being ill
  • Permission in advance for a school event or other performance
  • Medical appointment
  • Religious observation

What if I am going to be late?

If you are running late, please let us know on Junior@lcm.ac.uk

What happens if my student doesn’t arrive and LJC hasn’t been notified

The parent/carer will be sent a text, checking that everything is ok and asking them to update LJC regarding your absence.

If you are in receipt of a bursary or scholarship, unauthorised absences may lead to a repayment of some or all of the bursary awarded.

What happens if my student misses more than one week?

  • After two consecutive weeks of unauthorised absence an email will be sent to the parent/carer.
  • If you have missed 20% of your lessons without a good reason, we will send a formal letter requesting a meeting with you and your student to discuss the next steps.
  • Continued absences, may result in your student's place at LJC being withdrawn.

If there is something about your lesson that worries or concerns you, get in touch or come and talk to the LJC team at the sign-in desk at break time. We are always happy to listen and help.
