Auditions

Through the audition process we are excited about reaching out to the younger jazz community and bringing together musicians who are passionate about improvising. Whilst places will be limited, this is a chance to connect with you, so please apply for an audition if you are interested – it might lead to other things.

We are looking for talented musicians up to the age of 18 to join this project.  We would expect to receive applications from students aged 14+, although if you are younger and of a high standard on your instrument, please do apply.

To submit an audition, please send two videos to Junior@lcm.ac.uk by Friday 25 November 2022 using the guidance below.

Audition Guidance and Tips

  • Pick two pieces you feel comfortable with and enjoy playing. For instrumentalists, at least one video must be of you reading music and for singers, at least one video must be you singing the main melody of a piece (you don't have to send us the notation, but are welcome to if you would like). We welcome the second video to include some improvising, although improvising is not mandatory.
  • Please say your name and the name of the piece you will be playing and who it is by before you start playing/singing
  • You can record your videos on a phone/tablet, don't worry too much about the production quality (just as long as we can see and hear you) - we do not expect professional videos (but if you have those you are able to submit them)
  • You can record your pieces in two separate videos - you do not have to record both pieces in one go (but you are welcome to submit a single file containing both if that is easiest)

Submitting your Audition

Please send your videos to Junior@lcm.ac.uk. If the files are too large, a website called WeTransfer lets you email large files free of charge. If you have any queries, please email Junior@lcm.ac.uk , we're always here to help.
