Erin Carter

Head of School of Drama

Her expertise lies in storytelling across various disciplines, and her extensive professional credits underscore her multidisciplinary journey. From musical theatre performances in the West End, regional productions, and UK tours to her roles as a writer for stage and screen, and movement director/choreographer, Erin's career reflects her deep-rooted belief that all artists are the sum of their story.

Notable writing credits include works like "VII" (Teatru Malta), "Bound” (Radio 4) “River City” and “Teacup Travels” (BBC), and shorts "Prophesy" (The Public Theatre New York) and "Simple Truth" (Theatre503). As a director, Erin has led productions like "Boys Will Be Boys" (Leeds Conservatoire), "Treasure Island" (The Stephen Joseph Theatre), ‘Brigadoom!’(Oranmore) and Tin Forest (National Theatre of Scotland).  

In addition to her writing and directing credits, as an Associate Director and Movement Director/Choreographer, Erin has made significant contributions to reimagining’s of classic stories; predominantly Actor Musician work and always for theatre’s in the round. Production highlights include; "Brief Encounter," "Stepping Out," “Alice in Wonderland”, “A Christmas Carol”, “Build a Rocket” and "The 39 Steps".

Beyond the stage and screen, Erin has played a crucial role in shaping educational programs. She wrote the BA Acting, BA Actor Musician, MA Dramaturgy, and MA Musical Direction programs and now leads the complete suite of Drama courses at Leeds Conservatoire. Erin draws inspiration from teaching the next generation of storytellers, considering it a driving force behind her passion for creating new, form challenging drama.
