Track One - 'Walkabout' by Abbie Finn Trio

Abbie graduated from our Jazz programme in 2017. The Abbie Finn Trio regularly perform around the North-East and further afield. In November 2020, the trio released their debut album Northern Perspective, comprising a mix of brand new original music and arrangements of some of the band's favourite songs.

Track Two - 'Flying' by Rohan Young

​Rohan Young is a singer-songwriter from Greater Manchester currently studying at Leeds Conservatoire. He's influenced by artists such as Paolo Nutini, Catfish and The Bottlemen and Amy Winehouse. Influences like these have helped to shape his guitar-driven, anthemic sound. With his debut single 'Flying' and 'Trippin' already released, he's ready and raring to get his debut EP 'Growing Days' out this March.

Track Three - 'Just Wanna Love You' by Ashleigh McHugh

Ashleigh McHugh is a pop singer-songwriter from Leeds. She is currently studying in her third year of our pop programme. Ashleigh hopes to train to be a music teacher whilst performing and creating a career as an artist.

Track Four - 'this is a very angry song' by My nose is pierced

My nose is pierced is a five-piece pop, indie-rock band from Leeds. The band have already released tracks such as 'this is a very angry song' and are preparing to release their first EP. Their music combines influences from R&B, Pop and Rock with ironic lyrics and references to modern-culture and personal experience. 

Track Five - 'Anything' by Alfie Blue 

Alfie Blue are a Leeds based Indie Rock/Pop band. Since forming back in 2021 Alfie Blue have released four singles on all streaming platforms. Their second single 'Tonight' was chosen to be BBC introducing’s track of the week back in May 2021. Alfie Blue have a unique dream-like sound which give off a chill feel-good vibe. After playing several gigs across the North-east of the UK and Leeds, Alfie Blue are rising in the Leeds band scene playing headline shows at Wharf chambers and supporting bands such as 'Only Sun' at Hyde Park Book Club.

Alfie Bingham is a first year student on our Songwriting programme.

Track Six - 'Just Friends' by Samuriium and Amelia

Sam MacDonald (Samuriium) is a third year student on our BA Production programme. Samuriium combines organic sounds and warmth-driven energy in tropical house and deep house. Their use of organic instruments, catchy plucks and vibrant melodies creates an intimate and relaxing vibe. Learn more about Samuriium on Instagram

Track Seven - 'Dustcoast' by Francis

Francis is a singer-songwriter and Leeds Conservatoire student in his second year of our Songwriting programme.

Francis has a drive to use his music as a tool to change societal constructs. He aspires to gain a diverse following to spread his message and make a change for those who need it. With his alternative style and striking stage presence, there is a level of intrigue that mesmerises audiences with highly reflective concepts, interjected with sarcastic comic relief. Track Eight - 'Give In' by Rafe's Dilemma 

Rafe's Dilemma was originally formed in 2017 as a commission for Bolton Worktown Festival in 2018. Jamil Sheriff (Jazz programme leader at Leeds Conservatoire), Nel Begley, Katie Patterson and Pete Turner were brought together, through their ties to Leeds and love of Jazz. In 2019 the band went on to release their debut album ‘Rafe’s Dilemma’ (self-titled), recorded and produced by Sam Hobbs of Rebel Elements, with an accompanying Arts Council England supported tour.

Track Nine - 'Before You Go' by Bella 

Bella (Ellen Connelly) graduated from our Jazz course in 2019. Bella is a Leeds-based singer-songwriter who combines Pop, Jazz and R&B influences to create an exciting and unique sound. Check out Bella on social media

Track Ten - 'Moonlight Bubaloo' by State of Satta

State of Satta are a seven piece dub-fusion band based in the north of England brought together by a collective love of dub and reggae. The band fuse the rhythms of one-drop & steppas, bone shaking bass lines, and resonant vocals to create a distinct groove driven sound. Founded from the ashes of 2020, State of Satta released their first live Single and Video session ‘Bring out the Fiya’ in the Spring of 2021 garnering 15,000 views on Facebook within its first 3 days. Whilst still being a young band, they have a wealth of experience playing within Stig of the Dub, Digital Foundation and Radio Riddler. 

Track Eleven - 'New Day' by Abstract Orchestra and Illa J

Led by Rob Mitchell, the Abstract Orchestra are a self-styled big band known for their impressive live performances. They explore the shared territory between jazz and hip hop by taking modern classics such as Madvillain and J Dilla’s back catalogue and filtering them through classic arrangement techniques.

Track Twelve  - 'So It Goes' by Dave Bristow Quintet

Dave Bristow graduated from our MA Music programme in 2012. Dave is a pianist and composer from Birmingham. Currently based in Paris, he is fast emerging as one of the most original and talented jazz musicians in Europe. His main project is the Dave Bristow Quintet - a multinational supergroup for which he writes all the compositions.

Track Thirteen  - 'Sounds Hoof' by Slow Loris

"Leeds based noise. riffs with harmony over hard beats and low bass."
