Classical Students Secure Top Prizes at Huddersfield Mrs Sunderland Festival

By Gemma Cross

Two Classical singers studying at Leeds Conservatoire scooped top prizes at this year’s Huddersfield Mrs Sunderland Festival.

The first festival was held in April 1889 with just 37 competitors; Mrs Sunderland herself presented the prizes. Since its modest beginnings the festival has expanded vastly. The 2024 festival had over 5000 performances, over 120 classes, five workshops, five concerts and a showcase. You can find out more about the festival’s history here.
