Accommodation

When you are offered a place to study at Leeds Conservatoire, your next step is to think about where to live. New undergraduate students in their first year of study can apply to live at either Joseph Stones House (managed by Unite Students) or One Mill Street (managed by Unipol).

Joseph Stones House is on campus at St. Peter’s Square and has 190 en-suite rooms occupied solely by conservatoire students. One Mill Street has 130 rooms allocated for conservatoire students and is a 5-minute walk from the main campus.

Living alongside like-minded music and performing arts students will help you quickly settle into your new student life at Leeds Conservatoire.

Accommodation application process

How to apply for accommodation

Applicants joining us in September 2024, who have firmly accepted their offer of study, can apply for accommodation from 13 May 2024 onwards. Applicants will be emailed a link to an online accommodation form. This includes applicants who deferred their place from the previous year.

We can prioritise the following applicants who have an offer of study, providing you contact the Accommodation Team before 3 May 2024 to discuss your requirements:

  • applicants who are care experienced or estranged from their families
  • applicants with a diagnosed disability, long-term physical or mental health condition or allergy which needs to be considered for your accommodation

From 13 May 2024:

Complete the online application form, which will be emailed directly to applicants who have firmly accepted their offer of study. Use the same form to apply for both Joseph Stones House and One Mill Street.

You can select up to three choices of room type. The majority of rooms we have are ‘classic en-suites’ at Joseph Stones House and ‘standard rooms’ at One Mill Street. Please include at least one of these in your choices.

Please allow approximately 6 weeks for your application to be processed. We will contact you sooner if we have any queries about your accommodation form.

When will I find out if I have a room?

If you apply for accommodation in May, we will aim to let you know which room you’ve been allocated before end of June.

We usually have enough rooms for all undergraduate applicants who have firmly accepted their offer of study by June. We don't guarantee accommodation but we do our best to meet the demand each year.

If we don’t have a room available for you, we’ll let you know as soon as possible and either add your name to a waiting list or signpost you to other nearby options.

When can I move in?

Your accommodation contract will start on 7 September 2024. You will be able to move in from that date onwards.

Academic calendars for 2024/25 can be found here.

How to cancel accommodation

Contact the accommodation team as soon as you can, and before the end of August –

Email: accommodation@leedsconservatoire.ac.uk

Please note:
Should you choose not to come to Leeds Conservatoire and the reason is neither a serious personal issue nor failure to get your grades, then you may be tied in to paying your tenancy for the full year if your room cannot be reallocated.

Should serious personal reasons prevent you from taking up your place please contact us for advice.

Please read carefully the terms of the Unite Students or Unipol Cancellation Policy or which you can access alongside your contract.
