Do you have a passion for singing or want to bring out the best in others’ voices? New for 2025, our inclusive Voice (Performance & Pedagogy) degree offers a welcoming and diverse learning space for aspiring voice professionals and future voice teachers.
This degree focuses on vocal performance, industry skills and pedagogy, providing a comprehensive foundation in terminology and methodologies. It integrates various artistic and pedagogical disciplines alongside humanities and physical sciences. You’ll develop an insight into a range of diverse music and teaching environments, fostering cognitive, intellectual, practical, and contextual abilities.
As the first of its kind in the UK, this degree aligns with Leeds Conservatoire’s long-standing commitment to innovation and evolving the educational landscape. You’ll be encouraged to blend creativity with theoretical and technical skills. An industry focus will guide you toward converting your studies into professional opportunities as voice and singing practitioners within the music industry, education and beyond.
You’ll receive one-to-one tuition and training from voice experts and develop performance, musicianship and technical skills through experiential learning with seminars, workshops and ensemble collaborations. You’ll also explore the theory and application of music and voice education, and elements of music therapy.
As well as the specific skills and experience you’ll gain in music and speech therapy, vocal tuition, and vocal health, voice acting and recording, you’ll graduate with a diverse set of transferable skills that extend beyond the realm of music. These will include business and marketing skills, project management, creativity and critical thinking, setting you on diverse and rewarding career paths.
As part of a campus community of more than 1,400singers, musicians and performers as well as other students on this course, you’ll have the opportunity to work and learn alongside your peers. You’ll also get the chance to take part in many other creative activities to develop skills as solo performers, in vocal groups, ensembles or the Pop Choir.
There will be regular performance opportunities embedded in the delivery of the curriculum, as part of your assessments as well as opportunities to perform publicly.

Students on our Popular pathway play at our regular showcase, ‘Crosswire’, and perform at venues throughout the city, including the Brudenell Socal Club, Belgrave Music hall, Oporto and Nation of Shopkeepers. In addition, many of our students join the Contemporary Pop Choir and other extra-curricular ensembles that the college run.
